Fundraising Through Storytelling:

From Classrooms to Care

Client: Mengo Hospital and IRead

Services: Conceptualization, scripting, filming, photography, and editing.

For NGOs, fundraising is not just about presenting numbers or strategies. It’s about making impact visible, human, and urgent. With both Mengo Hospital and I Read, the challenge was similar: translate complex realities into stories that align with donors and drive action.

The Challenge

Whether in healthcare or education, both organisations are addressing critical, large-scale challenges.

  • Mengo Hospital is facing increasing demand for pediatric care in Kampala

  • IRead is working to improve literacy outcomes for children through structured, research-driven programmes

The Urgency of Growing Mengo Hospital

For Mengo Hospital, we created a long-form impact film, supported by testimonials. The story gets told through the eyes of mothers, nurses, and patients. By capturing these lived experiences and daily realities, the story highlighted both the urgency of expanding pediatric care and the long-term impact of the new facility.

This approach allowed Mengo to:

  • Demonstrate transparency and accountability

  • Strengthen donor confidence

  • Support fundraising for the Pediatric & Outpatient Building

How IRead fights for Transformation Through Education

For Iread, we produced a series of four videos designed to communicate impact across different levels of their work.

From interviews with teachers and parents to stories of individual student transformation, the content highlighted both the personal and systemic impact of their literacy programmes. A dedicated piece also captured how IRead’s methodology is studied and embedded within Makerere University, reinforcing credibility and long-term vision.

Together, these stories positioned Iread as both impact-driven and evidence-based, supporting their outreach to donors and partners.

The Result?

A strategic storytelling suite across both organisations, designed to support fundraising, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.

By combining human stories with clear context, the content:

  • Strengthens trust

  • Clarifies impact

  • Creates emotional connection

  • Supports donor decision-making

Because when people understand the story, they are far more likely to support it.
